The lower house of parliament in Germany just voted to legalize marijuana for medical use across the country. The treatment would require a prescription for a narrow variety of uses and grow plantations will have to be state-supervised. Even still, this is a win for cannabis, as the Germans become the third European nation to legalize for medicinal purposes.
Germany’s health minister released a statement earlier today in regards to the new legislation, saying, “Those who are severely ill need to get the best possible treatment and that includes health insurance funds paying for cannabis as a medicine for those who are chronically ill if they can’t be effectively treated any other way.”
Legalization (or decriminalization) will help millions of people who are suffering and stifle addiction problems. But changing enough hearts and minds requires hard work; blah blah freedom isn’t free. Want to help fight for medical or recreational cannabis in your locality or nationwide?
