A man from Olympia, WA was arrested for mailing the IRS in Ogden, Utah a package containing a fake pipe bomb and a picture of himself. The office is familiar with the man who has mailed them packages in the past, one of which contained his severed finger that he removed himself.
CBS News reports that Normand Lariviere mailed several packages to the IRS in 2016, which included a bullet, a marijuana joint as well as the package containing his finger. Lariviere, who is a 68 year old former defense contractor, had not been arrested for any of these previous packages. The fake pipe bomb however did prompt his arrest.
Lariviere become upset with the Department of Defense when he was laid off from his job as a civilian electrician for the U.S. Navy in the 1990’s. He recently began targeting the IRS stating he shouldn’t have to be income taxes because his grievances with the DoD had not been settled.
Charging papers stated Lariviere acknowledged he sent these packages.
