Roy Street Coffee and Tea Kicks out Libertarians

On the night of May 13, 2017, a fellow Libertarian, David Malekar was with a group of 9-10 other Libertarians at Roy Street Coffee and Tea.  These meetings have been being held at this location for over a year with no issues.  Last night, someone had an issue with the Libertarian discussions being held and demanded the group to leave the establishment. According to David Malekar, there were no loud disruptions and they were minding their own business. The person that complained was there at the coffee shop, but he was unsure of their affiliation otherwise. He knows they’re not connected the the business in any way. This isn’t the first time this individual has been at the establishment and he has complained about them talking about different views than he holds. Why would a group that routinely visits an establishment and pays money be asked to leave? Was it because of their views they were discussing? Is it because of who they are as individuals?  Most likely one or the other, possibly both.  The people that were having the discussion were, as described by David Malekar: a Native American, a Latino, a Gay Pakistani, a Disabled Veteran and a potential person of importance in city government. We, as Libertarians, respect the rights of private business owners to have whomever they want at their establishment, but we also support the free market telling this business how they feel.  If they are so choosing to throw out long standing customers based on the complaint of one customer, that just makes me question why?  Why would any private business want to lose money? We will let the free market decide if they choose to support this establishment going forward.  If you’d like to comment on this business decision to kick out our fellow Libertarians, leave a comment on Yelp, Google Maps, Facebook, or write/call them here:
