LISTEN TO TLR’S LATEST PODCAST:
In a Wednesday interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard spoke of her meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the fight for peace in the area. As the conversation progressed, Gabbard recalled speaking to citizens of Syria and hearing the same thing over and over:
Please stop supporting ISIS, Al-Nusra, and Al-Queda.
Jake Tapper challenged the lawmaker from Hawaii by interjecting the official US story, that taxpayers are only funding moderate rebels. Gabbard was quick to respond, thanking the CNN host for allowing her to clear this up and saying, “Every place that I went, every person that I spoke to, I asked this question to them, and without hesitation they said, ‘there are no moderate rebels, who are these moderate rebels that people keep speaking of?’ Regardless of the name of these groups, the strongest fighting force on the ground in Syria is al-Nusra, or al-Qaeda, or ISIS, that is a fact.”
Tulsi Gabbard joins Rand Paul and other liberty or peace minded legislators to challenge the United State’s operations in the middle east and accuse the State Department of funding terrorist groups that have raped, pillaged, tortured, and murdered Syrians by the hundreds of thousands. President Trump, himself, has accused the Obama administration of directly creating ISIS.
Can these new alliances stop the neo-conservatives and chicken-hawks from spreading more destruction across humanity? Let’s hope so, but let’s also support congresspeople who fight for the same things we do, regardless of gang colors.
